Eneregy Efficiency in Lighting Program.

Earth Patrol has designed and initiated an energy efficiency in lighting project, designed in accordance with the ‘ISO 14064-2: Specification with guidance at the project level for quantification, monitoring and reporting of green- house gas emission reductions or removal enhancements.’

A lamp switch reduces carbon emissions as a result of a savings in electricity.

South Africa’s electrical supply is generated through so-called ‘dirty power’, the result of our inefficient coal-fired power plants.

In the first leg of our rollout, older, inefficient, Incandescent lamps (ICL light bulbs) are replaced with modern, efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL light bulbs).

We specifically target low income households, subsidized housing and special needs centres such as old age homes, orphanages and shelters.

These residents benefit directly from the savings in the cost of energy and the lamps are provided free of charge. The project has been registered with the carbon protocol of South Africa and voluntary emission reductions are available for purchase through our online credit registry.

Sequestration through Tree Planting Program.

Earth Patrol has innitiated a tree planting program in the Drakenstein municipality, in the Western Cape. Alongside this program, workshops, educational talks and lessons were provided to children at the schools where tree's have been planted.

Energy Efficiency in Cooking Program.

Earth Patrol is currently developing a national energy efficienct in cooking emission reductions program. This project will see older, inefficienct, and often dangerous technologies being replaced with their more efficient, more stable alternatives. The project aims to reduce the incidence of accidental fire damage to rural communities which often occur through the use of volatile parrafin and wood burning stoves.

Earth Patrol develops projects that combine effective return on investment with a socio-environmental foundation, that serve the planet, the people that rely on it and addresses investor requirements to build a sustainable market place for all stakeholders.

Earth Patrol assesses each project to ensure that it meets the core eligibility criteria of Real, Measureable, Additional, Permanent, Unique and Independently Verified. We then compile a feasibility report to outline the scope before we rollout the solution.

We look for projects that have high additional benefit. Projects that will give social benefit are always our first choice. Our intent is to benefit the community as well as the planet and this is a big motivator toward which projects we select as eligible.

Once the scope is understood, we undertake an engagement process to involve the local community in the project, sharing with them the reasoning and intention behind the project in an effort to educate and empower.

Types of Projects we develop:

Earth Patrol designs and develops certified and voluntary emission reduction projects.

Credit for Credit

Every credit we generate is recorded and made publicly available to view in our online registry. Each credit is retired on purchase, and a full list of credits retired is kept online to ensure transparency. This ensures that every credit is traded only once.

We hold the reigns

Earth Patrol only gets involved in projects where we can manage the entire rollout and ensure that the project meets our objectives. We are not a third Party broker of other peoples credits.

In for the long haul

We don’t leave when the work is done. Each project is assessed on an ongoing basis to ensure that it performs according to our initial design. We compile assessment reports that act as aids for constantly improving the delivery to our objectives in our future projects.

Building Bridges

A major intention for the projects we select is the overall benefit that we can have on the community. Once the project is complete we look for ways to introduce other sustainable elements into the community as part of our own CSI initiatives; building skills and empowering from a grass roots level.
